Hello everyone, I am Secy Cheung, Founding Board Director of the FutureGen Girls Foundation. 

Many students have told me that they love cooking and want to turn this interest into a profession. However, some students hesitate because they believe that most professional chefs are male. 

Today, we are delighted to invite Vicky Lau to share her story. Additionally, what advice does she have for female students who aspire to become chefs or enter the culinary industry? 

Vicky is the head chef of the restaurant Tate Dining Room and the bakery Date by Tate. She also has a special passion for tofu and has founded the themed restaurant Mora. Vicky was named Asia's Best Female Chef in 2015. Since its opening, her restaurants have consistently maintained a Michelin one-star rating and were elevated to two Michelin stars in 2021. 

What drove Vicky to transition from a graphic designer to a chef? In this episode, let's listen to Vicky's journey from outside the kitchen to inside the kitchen.

In recent years, there has been a significant shift in kitchens that have traditionally been male-dominated. More and more female chefs are shining in their positions. Like Vicky, who has carved out her own space in the international culinary industry, women are increasingly making their mark in the culinary world. 

Cooking is not just about preparing food to satiate hunger; it is also an art form that can express personal viewpoints and even preserve cultural heritage. After listening to today's sharing, I would like to tell every young girl who is chasing her dreams that career paths can be changed. 

As Vicky mentioned, as long as you find that spark that ignites a fire within you, and strive towards the direction you desire, you will undoubtedly reach your destination.
